Wedding events :)

Hi guys!
The wedding fever is slowly catching up and this weekend was extremely busy. There was so much that got done this weekend but still my to-do list keeps growing :( But I am extremely thankful that I have some amazing people who are really helping me out so much. Be it shopping, preparing guest lists, address lists, inviting people from out of town, talking to the caterers, coordinating events with the in laws, setting up our new house... its all being taken care of by my amazing aunts and uncles and of course my cousins.
So the events to our wedding look something like this so far :)
26th evening - Get together of my family and friends at a city hotel. We have decided to take a banquet hall and have dinner, music, dancing :)
27th afternoon - Mehndi at my house. Maxi Chitti and Sneha are in charge of the event and they are working on getting the music, the girls to do the mehndi, inviting the ladies etc.
28th early morning -We i.e the girls party will be at MVJ at 6:30 am and there's going to be a nice formal welcoming of Karthik's family.. Bhuvana Chitti is organizing it and I'm sure it will be fantastic :)
28th afternoon - Entertainment time! Singing, dancing and getting to know each others' families
28th evening - Formal engagement or Nischayathartham, baarat and all the works :)
29th morning - Muhurtham which includes the Oonjal or the "swing" ceremony, "Kasi Yatra", and the mangalya dharanam.
29th evening - Reception!! Lots of people expected for this one.
30th morning - Going to Karthik's house in the morning, spending time there, coming to Anna nagar in the evening, spending time here before we finally head to our home.
31st early morning - Headed for our honeymoon.. to Zuri, Kumarakom :)

Phew!  Its a lot of work to be done but all sounds super exciting!!! Hoping everything goes off well :)

The shopping so far..

The wedding card - I've picked the design for the invite - Karthik and I decided we didn't want to do separate cards from just the two of us -  we both decided to stick with the regular parent invite and went with our folks to pick the design of our choice. Mine is picked, the wordings' ready, and all set to be given out. It's quite interesting to notice the kind of wedding cards that have arrived - there's one which actually speaks to you!! :) No I'm not getting that so stop thinking I'm crazy!! Cards distribution will start soon - maybe next week and my parents have a real task in their hands! Shopping was a little slow last week coz I fell a bit sick but now I'm getting better and I think I'm ready for more shopping. I never get tired! :P Hmmm so far I've picked 3 sarees - one from Nalli which is a pink and purple combo, one from Kumaran which is kinda olive green and gold and one from a new shop called Sarangi which is an orangish red. Sarangi is quite a nice store -its got exclusive sarees and they have only Kancheevarams. Quite good. Also picked Amma's reception saree there - which I'm already eyeing! :P Got a few more sarees to buy, still deciding what to get for the reception and the main muhurtham saree is being bought by MIL :)
Apart from all this, mom has been on a shopping spree buying for so many relatives and poor dad has been swiping the card generously :) This is the update so far - will keep posting! Enjoy!

Her parents :)

It's my pleasure to write a few lines about Aishwerya's parents  - my father in law is a free lance Financial Consultant. He's an extremely busy person who's completely devoted to his job. He enjoys spending time with his family and has quite a unique sense of humor. Aishu is the apple of his eye :-)
Aishu's mom is a really nice and warm person to know and i guess we have really hit it off well right from the beginning. She enjoys movies, cricket, dancing, singing and what not! In short, I'm fortunate to have such great and fun in laws, looking forward to lots of good times with them.

The FIL and The MIL!

Hi all,
I'm back! As you would have guessed, we have been busy with the wedding preps, shopping et al.
Anyway, wanted to quickly write a few lines about my soon to be in laws.
Karthik's dad is a Retd. Lt. Col. from the Indian Army. Can u feel the pride when I say that? :) His mom is a home maker and they have their own apartment in Chennai. I have got to know them pretty well over the last few months and we get along really well. Touch wood :) FIL's a complete riot! He can talk about any subject non stop! No kidding!! MIL's also chatty. Like most mothers, she dotes on her son and loves to cook his favorite dishes. FIL/MIL make quite a funny couple - It is quite hilarious to watch the two of them argue sometimes. They're both very outgoing in nature, pretty broad minded about most things, fun loving and caring folks. Very lucky to be associated with them :) Here's a sneak peak of them! FIL actually looks very strict but trust me he's anything but that! They're gonna kill me if they ever see this pic in here. Hoping that never happens! :P

The Pondatti!

Since i've been introduced, it's only fair to introduce the 'ol ball and chains.
Aishu is a true blue chennaiite and a mix of the "peter" and "mallipoo" variety, based on the situation.  Full of beans and keen on experiencing most things that comes her way she seems to make the most of the 24 hrs..
A cricket buff (never expected that one) and one that can fully put to shame the vuvuzela, she goes all out when it comes to the men in blue. Her other interests are reading, writing blogs (DUH!!), listening to music and singing. And oh yes, she can be quite uncontrollable on the dance floor and thru this post i want to tell one and all that i will not be dancing at the wedding. So all those gleefully waiting for the snaps/ video can kiss those dreams goodbye.

The mapplae!(Translation: The Groom!)

A few words about the groom - Karthik is basically from Chennai. Having said that, he has lived in many many different cities during his childhood - both the North and the South. He has an MBA in Finance/HR and is currently an HR Consultant at a popular HR Consulting firm in Chennai. Now,there are so many adjectives to describe him but what really comes to mind when I think of Karthik is that he is mature, fun loving, caring, adventurous, glutton(hehehe), hard working, witty and a total flirt, which I think is a true blue Gemini trait. The first time you meet him he will come across as a super serious person. But once the ice is broken, you see a completely different person altogether! He can really make you laugh your lungs out with his corny one liners. He loves reading, movies, music of all kinds, is a brilliant photographer, a total mama's boy(!), loves traveling and has traveled widely thanks to his papa's army influence, and last but not the least is very passionate about "off roading". The first time he told me about it, I heard it as "off loading" and I nodded my head like I knew exactly what it was when in fact I knew nothing about it!! :P Now, I do, so it's all good I guess :-) Like most men, he's a gadget freak and is addicted to Blackberry! And no, he doesn't keep texting me. Absolutely loves super bikes! Yikes!! I know.. but this boy is a bike fanatic, his favorite one being the Hayabusa. And yea, he hates dancing. He is absolutely petrified of the possibility of him having to do an extempore dance sequence at our wedding.. and I don't blame him one bit considering how much my family loves to dance!  I've already been warning him to start moving his feet - and yes videos will be posted of it, so do keep up with this space! ;-)

Ringa ringa roses!

Today evening we got to go pick our wedding rings!!!
Amid opinions and comments from over half a dozen people, we finally managed to zero in on THE ring for each of us from among a zillion designs.
Cant wait to put them on in 74 days from today.

The really interesting bit came after the ring picking  - while we gulped down quite a lot of food at the near-by Woodlands - where we got our very first wedding gift, from varungala mamanaar!

Welcome to our blog :-)

Hello everybody!!
Karthik and I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our wedding blog! I think the timing of this blog is perfect - just 74 days to go for our BIG DAY! May 29th 2011 to be more precise :-)
We first decided to have a wedding website which tracks our countdown and things like that but yours truly came up with this better idea of creating a blog, which in my opinion is way cooler :P
Plus, Karthik has always told me he enjoys reading my personal blog(he used to read it wayyy before, even when things weren't happening between us, but I will save that story for a later post) ;-)
This blog will essentially feature the hero and the heroine aka Karthik and Aishwerya, our story, our interests, fun stuff about the wedding preparations, pictures, details about our wonderful families without whom none of this will be so much fun, posts on our awesome friends, our honeymoon details, our to be rented home etc. You get the drift - basically anything that is remotely related to this wedding - be it fun or serious stuff!

Once again, I am very happy that you are a reader and hopefully a follower of our blog!! Welcome to our world filled with happiness, anxiety, drama, fun times and what not! Hope you stick around till the end!
Till my next post, adios! :-)
